About us

“We” are the Hessels: Thomas, Shannon, Henry and Sylvester. Our farmhouse, “Lille Myregaard”, has been a bed and breakfast since 2010, stylishly established by Jytte Seratski and Thomas Holmegaard. Our family has had the pleasure of owning and running the business since 2018. 

Running a service-oriented business is something Thomas and Shannon have had experience with since our childhoods. Thomas’ mother has run at B&B out of her home in Rungsted for 40 years; Thomas helped to welcome guests and handled online communication. From the age of 11, Shannon worked alongside her parents in the family’s Victorian-inspired restaurant and gift shop in the United States.

After pursuing other professional careers – Thomas as a product manager in the medical device industry, and Shannon as a PhD and educator at Copenhagen Business School – we found our way back to these familiar roots. Our transition from city life in a modern house along Damhussøen (Rødovre), to a four building countryside farmhouse on Bornholm was motivated by our desire to spend more of our daily time together as a family, be closer to the beautiful nature of this island, and to create meaningful experiences for others. We are always happy to welcome you, and always experimenting with ways to make your stay more delightful.

Henry, our oldest son, loves welcoming young people to Myregaard and showing them around the property. He is brilliant at starting group games on the trampoline.

Sylvester, our youngest son, loves outdoor play, using his dad’s tools, and giving tours to toddlers on his electric jeep.

Cleo, our cat, is an active hunter and a kid-friendly charmer who is usually willing to let you pet her. (For those of you with allergies, don’t worry, she’s not allowed in the guest rooms!)

Our newest family member, Viggo, is perhaps the most popular with guests! Viggo is a brown Labrador with a heart of gold. He is kid and grown-up friendly, and always eager to play.
